Scholarship Opportunists
The Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus Foundation (ILLCF) hopes this email finds you well! We are writing to you to inform you about the ILLCF Scholarship and to ask you to help us share the information with those that may work directly with students, and ideally, to publish the information on your scholarship bulletin boards and/or website.
Founded in 2002, the Illinois Legislative Latino Caucus Foundation (ILLCF), is a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization whose mission is to foster the next generation of Latino leadership in Illinois while advocating for the needs and wants of the community. Since its founding, the ILLCF has served as a public policy arm of its board that informs and promotes equitable public policy that targets and promotes thriving Latino communities. ILLCF has three main program areas: (1) Next Generation Leadership Program, which includes our scholarship program, (2) Raices: Public Policy, and (3) Platicas. Each year, the ILLCF awards twenty $5,000 to outstanding Latino students who meet the eligibility criteria to receive the ILLCF scholarship (formally the Michael W. Gonzalez scholarship) to help them achieve their educational goals.
In addition to receiving the scholarship, our scholarship recipients participate in a two day leadership summit, are recognized at our Annual Event, become life-time members of our Alumni Association where they participate in different leadership programs, network with community leaders and legislators, and participate in activities, including social activities, to increase their social capital.
Who is eligible for the scholarship?
Illinois residents
Individuals with Latino ancestry
U.S. Citizens, DACA recipients and those without immigration status
Individuals seeking a certificate, trade, vocational, technical, undergraduate, or graduate degree or program
Individuals who have never received the ILLCF scholarship
This year our scholarship application will become available in early May 2025. But students now can register to get a notification when the application becomes live using the QR Code on the document attached. The scholarship recipients will be notified in August. Here is the link to our website to learn more about our scholarship, where students can now complete the form to be notified when the application becomes available, and where the application will be published when it becomes live. Attached you will find some flyers that can be used in English and Spanish.
